This is pretty funny.
Sally Field, the veteran actress who played Aunt May in Marc Webb’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN movies was just on The Howard Stern Show, and she really let it rip. Field spoke candidly about the fact that she only agreed to appear in Sony’s rebooted SPIDER-MAN series as a favor to Laura Ziskin. The actress says she was put-off by how one-dimensional the role was, and found the whole situation sort of thankless.
Field says she would’ve liked to have done more with the part, but…
“It’s really hard to find a three dimensional character in it, and you work it as much as you can, but you can’t put ten pounds of shit in a five pound bag.”
So it definitely sounds like she wasn’t devastated when that franchise went belly-up, paving the way for a new reboot that’s going to be a joint venture between Sony and Marvel Studios. Aunt May will be played by Marisa Tomei, who’ll hopefully have a much better time playing the part than Sally Field did.
