There are so many Marvel characters that have not yet been utilised in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You could literally pick up a random Marvel comic and probably find two to three characters easily from any issue. One of the characters which fans have always been intrigued to see make it to the big screen is MODOK.
For those that don’t know MODOK (pictured above) is a villain from the comics and animated shows who shows up as a regular villain for the Avengers and Captain America. MODOK stands for (Mental/Mobile/Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing). He is also referred to simply as MODOK, so I will stick with that since it’s easier for me to type out continually.

In a recent podcast interview with Kevin Smith for Fat Man on Batman, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 co-writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely talked about MODOK. Though he is an unusual character the writing duo had originally wanted him to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, but they simply could not find a place for him in an already stuffed movie. However, the pair also expressed their continued desire to see MODOK make his appearance in the MCU.
Is it possible they could have found a way to fit the character into Avengers 4? It’s certainly possible, though there is no way they would show their hand by speaking of this so early, especially when Avengers 4 is still such a mystery. However, my bet would have to go on MODOK not appearing in Avengers 4. There will certainly be plenty of surprises in this movie I am sure, but introducing MODOK at this point of the story doesn’t feel right.
If both Markus and McFeely are keen to bring the character in though, I am sure there are going to be plenty of opportunities to do so later on. At this point I am sure Marvel would bite, if the writing duo pitched them a MODOK buddy comedy in the style of The Odd Couple, they are so hot right now.
What do you think of the character of MODOK, do you think he could appear in Avengers 4 and if not, would you like to see him further down the line in the MCU? Let us know your thoughts in the usual place below.
