Avengers: Chris Pratt Agrees That Star-Lord Messed Up

You know what they say about the best-laid plans. They tend to get screwed up by idiots who can’t see past their nose and consider the consequences. Such was the case for the Avengers: Infinity War. They had a fool-proof plan to take down Thanos, and when they were within an inch of snatching away the Infinity Gauntlet, Star-Lord had to go and ruin everything.

It was a predictable move. I mean, it’s not like the heroes could actually beat him at this stage in the story, right? But that didn’t make it any less frustrating to those of us sitting in the theaters who wanted nothing more than to see the Avengers emerge victorious yet again in the superhero team-up flick.

And you know what? We’re not alone. Apparently, actor Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord in the film, agrees with us.

“I think it’s totally true, and I personally feel the same as everyone else about Star-Lord. But I know things, ok? And I feel like audiences are gonna be blown away when this next film comes out. Even if [he’s not redeemed] it was worth it, because this is an experience for fans that truly never will be matched again in the history of cinema.”

So, in short, “yeah, the guy was stupid, but it’s okay, because even though what he did was stupid, because of his actions you’re still going to get an amazing movie when Avengers: Endgame comes out.” It’s probably not the most satisfying answer out there, but it is nice to know when an actor is at least a little self-aware of some of the criticisms of the character.

That being said, I will applaud the film in that, while the move from Star-Lord was shitty, it wasn’t out of character. It wasn’t like it was something his character would never do…at least from my perspective.
