Avengers: Endgame Re-Release Details Revealed!

I am sure everyone knows by now that Avengers: Endgame is getting, (well I don’t want to call it a re-release because it’s not) a few extra items added to the movie probably for this weekend in theaters. Now, my colleagues mostly think this is a cool technique for ensuring the movie beats Avatar to the crown of all-time box office champ, but I feel less charitable towards the move.

For me, adding in a couple of little scenes or anything minimal would feel like a very deliberate and corporate move as opposed to one of artistic merit. The movie, after all, released the way the Russo brothers wanted it released, and I cannot see why they don’t just wait to see if it takes the title on its own merits. Yes I know, bidnezzz.

However, that’s not happening and we know some extras will be added to the movie in theaters, and yes, we know this is so the movie will have the legs to beat Avatar to the title. So what exactly will these extras be? Well, we know it’s not new scenes within the movie itself and had been told to expect a deleted scene after the movie ends, a tribute of some kind and possibly a mid-credits stinger which wasn’t in the original run.

Here’s what Marvel themselves says.

Sadly, it was lacking in details as to what the deleted scene would be…but, according to MCU Cosmic we know what these will consist of.

The outlet says that the deleted scene will be about Hulk and feel like a nice little scene to place at the end of the movie, but it was a deleted scene cut from the movie initially, not something new. They also say there will be a Stan Lee tribute, again after the end of the movie, and that definitely makes a lot of sense. Finally, they say the mid-credits stinger will be a tease for Spider-Man: Far From Home (the mentioned sneak peek from Marvel), which is out in less than 2 weeks in many places, and therefore for me not a very attractive option at this stage?

Now I don’t know about you guys, but none of these things are anywhere near enough to get me back into the theatre, and one would expect they’ll be on the Blu-ray anyway? So, I personally am not seeing the big attraction to bring back audiences for this, but maybe others see things differently? Either way with less than $40 million dollars to make to surpass Avatar it does seem likely this will work and that Marvel and Disney will have the title of biggest box office movie of all time.

What do you think of these proposed changes to Avengers: Endgame, is it enough to get you back or like me are you left scratching your head at this one? Share your thoughts in the usual spot below as always.
