Avengers: Endgame Ticket Sales Are Clogging Sites

It’s not you. It’s them. Like everyone else, as soon as I reported on Avengers: Endgame tickets officially being on sale, I went to Fandango and purchased my own tickets. Or at least I tried. I eventually succeeded, but it probably took me around 30 minutes before the sales went through. The site was moving at a glacial pace, and at one point, after making my seat selection, it sent me back to the homepage of the site…for some reason.

THR is also reporting that sites like AMC have actually been clogged with traffic, with them getting a 503 error. While I haven’t been given an error myself, I can attest to sites like Fandango and Cinemark moving at a painfully slow rate. A part of me was worried that the seats I’d selected 25 minutes prior (at the beginning of my ticket-purchasing journey), but luckily, in the end, it all went through.

This isn’t a big surprise. Not only is this an Avengers movie, but it’s also the culmination of a 22-film arc. It’s about as sure of a thing as one can get in Hollywood when it comes to making money. The only question we have left is whether or not this bad boy will beat Titanic and Avatar in terms of worldwide sales by the end of its run. I have little doubt the movie will quickly break advance ticket sales records, but its long haul will rely heavily on whether or not the movie is good.

Given Marvel Studios’ track record, I’m sure the movie will be at least good…but will it be good enough? We only have a few weeks left before we find out!
