Avengers: Infinity War – Does Chris Evans’ Autograph Confirm This Fan Theory? [SPOILERS]

Disclaimer: This post may contain spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War.

If you’ve had a chance to check out the most recent Avengers: Infinity War trailer, you may have noticed that Chris Evans’ Captain America has gone the way of David Letterman and Jon Stewart. He’s grown out his beard, and kind of looks like he’s seen better days.

When Captain America: Civil War ended, it showed Cap and a group of Avengers on the run, and since then, fans have been wondering whether or not Steve Rogers would actually take on another identity of the character: Nomad.

A new Instagram post hints that that might actually be the case. One user claims that he got a signature from Evans on his shield, and on it, you can see that, underneath “Cap” he has “Nomad” written as well. Check it out:

For those who don’t know, Nomad is the alter ego Steve Rogers (among others) takes on when he abandons the moniker of Captain America. Given that Cap abandoned his shield at the end of Civil War, it would make sense he’d be going under that name.

Should this be true, it would certainly lend a bit of extra credence to the rumors of Hawkeye taking on the name of Ronin, which has a similar “drifter” feel to it.
