With Thanos on the rampage in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, it’s pretty clear on what line most of our heroes land on. Since they all skew on the “good” side of things (not to mention the pro-Earth side of things), we can pretty much assume they’d be going up against the Mad Titan.

But what about Loki? Unlike the other supers, he has a former alliance with Thanos. In fact, Thanos gave the Mind Stone to Loki (the scepter) in hopes that it would help Loki to secure the Tesseract in that first Avengers movie. At the end of Thor: Ragnarok, it was hinted that Loki had taken the Tesseract for himself. While the Mind Stone is still in Vision’s possession, his having the Tesseract could mean that Loki will be able to at least partially settle up with Thanos, right?

That certainly seems to be the case. Accompanying a new image of the God of Mischief, EW states that he is likely to give up the Tesseract to Thanos. But what does this mean for Loki’s alliances? He had only just reconciled with his brother Thor in Thor: Ragnarok. Would he end up turning yet again to help Thanos track down the remaining stones on Earth? Your guess is as good as ours, but this conundrum is exactly why Loki is such a great character.

We can’t wait to see what Marvel Studios has in store for this guy (here’s hoping he doesn’t croak in the first half of the movie).
