When is the right time to release a trailer? That’s a tough question to answer for any film. It’s especially tough when you’re a studio that’s churning out three films per year. You want to show off a trailer without taking away from the next film on the slate.

Right now, Marvel Studios is laying on the heavy marketing for Thor: Ragnarok, and still on the slate is Black Panther this  coming February before the big Avengers: Infinity War flick hits. With that in mind, will Marvel Studios have the confidence to share an Avengers: Infinity War trailer without it taking away enthusiasm from Black Panther?

It sounds like it. Fandango’s Erik Davis recently sat down with Kevin Feige, and later took to Twitter to share the following:

So it sounds like we just have to be patient. The end of the year is fast approaching, and once Thor: Ragnarok has had its theater run, it’ll likely not be long after that we’ll get both a new Black Panther trailer and then an Avengers: Infinity War trailer. Plus, given that Black Panther is the last movie before the massive superhero team-up, knowing that’s on the horizon may be enough to help push extra enthusiasm for Black Panther. We couldn’t be more thrilled.

Between all that and the upcoming Justice League movie, it’s a good time to be a comic book fan.

I hope they release the trailer when Justice League is out. That would show up the Justice League film for it’s rushed creation, lack of strong characters to care about and also hurt the sexual predator known as Ben Affleck.

      oooh snap!

Why is Ben a sexual predator? Last time I checked his last name wasn’t Weinstein.

      • Laurence

He’s publicly apologised for molesting that mtv girl. He’s also been open about knowing about Weinstein’s activity for years and keeping it secret. It must run in the family as his brother Casey has settled two sexual harassment cases out of court financially.
Hopefully Gal Gadot, as holder of the wonder woman mantle, will speak out regards having to appear in a film with Ben Affleck rather than be forced to remain silent in order to have her career.

There is actually a trending thing with him being called Buttman…WB better hope that fizzles out before the premier.

Here’s what I hope will happen: 90 second Teaser before Thor 3, and full blown 1st trailer before Star Wars 8

What about Black Panther, though? That’s coming sooner.

I’m only thinking about the Infinity War trailer (which I wanna see badly). I would imagine they’ll show a full Black Panther trailer before Ragnarock. At least I hope… Marvel is smart. They know that Ragnarock is one of the most anticipated movies this fall, and they’re going to get a lot of butts in those seats. They might as well capitalize.

I think they’re probably just waiting for Thor: Ragnarok to come out before they show the trailer. They probs don’t want to spoil the ending of Thor before the movie even comes out lol even though most people can probably guess how the film will end.

They started advertising Ragnarok before Homecoming was out. Not much difference.

  • 2 Left Thumbs

They seem to be consistently releasing the first teasers/trailers 7 months ahead of the movies release.

Homecoming’s first teaser was December 8th, and the film came out July 7th (7 months).
    Ragnarok’s first was April 10th, with a November 3rd release (7 months).
Black Panther’s teaser was June 9th before a February 16th release (8 months).

So we could almost expect the first IW teaser sometime this month!! Chances are they will save it for when Ragnarok comes out. But that’s just me speculating.

It’s probably the leaked comicon trailer, but then that’s a trailer with lotta “END OF EVERYTHING” and Black Panther is really next to at least hype up Super Science Future. It’s weird because, they need Black Panther since it’s a set point in Infinity War, so I do find it a difficult scheduling since everyone is going to react the whole Peter crying to Tony like Rey and Kylo in the Last Jedi trailer.
