“Hey, big guy. Sun’s gettin’ real low.”
Thus began the least-earned romance subplot of any superhero film to date. While I have nothing against Hulk and Black Widow guys coming together, the fact that their relationship seemed to materialize out of nowhere in Avengers: Age of Ultron never rubbed me the right way.
Avengers: Infinity War will be the first time the pair sees each other since Age of Ultron and is likely just short of three years — which is a long time. Plus, with Hulk having traveled clear across the galaxy to Sakaar…yeah, long distance never works, right? So will this relationship be addressed in the film?

While star Mark Ruffalo didn’t exactly say how much of the film will focus on it, it is clear that it plays a part in their characters’ mindset.
“They’re star-crossed lovers, so it’ll be something they’re dealing with for the rest of their living days, I think. Whether it’s requited or unrequited, I don’t imagine that’s gonna go away anytime soon, in one iteration or another.”
Talk about tragic. Now, all we need is for one of them to die and…ah, it still feels too early to imagine something like that, doesn’t it? Poor Hulk has just gotten his way, and Black Widow could be on the verge of getting her own standalone!
