Okay, so you can go ahead and file this latest report under “we pretty much knew this was true, and while we didn’t have any official confirmations, it’s been repeated so much that it’s basically become fact, so it almost feels like this isn’t really news” news. It has to do with a little character called Batman, who was previously played by Ben Affleck over the course of three films set in the DC Extended Universe.
Of course, we now know that Ben Affleck is out as the Caped Crusader, and with that, it seemed to confirm thoughts that they were going with a younger Bruce Wayne for the standalone film from Matt Reeves, but it was never confirmed. Affleck recently spoke with ET Canada about his upcoming film Triple Frontier, and the upcoming superhero film came up. Here’s what Affleck said:
“I’m looking forward to it. They’ve got a great director. They’re doing a kind of, I don’t want to give away anything because they get…but they’re doing a young version, a more starting-out version with a younger guy… I’m sure it will be great.”

Again, this isn’t exactly a new thought. In the couple years Affleck spent pretending to still be involved as Batman, there was endless rumor and speculation that an out the studio had was to have the new film starring a younger Bruce Wayne. In the time since then, it’s been repeated so often that it’s basically been assumed as fact…and luckily, in this case, that assumption is correct.
