“It’s time to clean up this city,” one broom-wielding Alfred Pennyworth recently called out in a trailer for Alfred: The Movie in the recently-released Teen Titans Go! To the Movies. Yes, the trailer was a joke, but all too soon that joke has become something of a morbid reality.
We’ve heard news in the past about Pennyworth — a 10-episode Alfred-focused series — hitting TV screens, but now it sounds like it’s actually going to happen. A new report from Production Weekly (via PursueNews) reveals that the show will begin production on November 21, 2018 in London. It will go on for seven months before wrapping in June of next year.
On board to produce is Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller and set to co-executive produce is Danny Canon.
“As genuine fans of these classic DC characters, as well as the incredibly talented Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, we couldn’t be more excited to make Epix the home of this series,” Epix president Michael Wright said. “We can’t wait to work with Bruno and Danny — along with Peter Roth, Susan Rovner, Brett Paul and the team at Warner Horizon — on this fantastic origin story.”
“Michael and his colleagues have created the perfect venue for original storytelling, and all of us working on Pennyworth are thrilled to be on the Epix slate,” producer Bruno Heller and co-executive producer Danny Cannon said in a joint statement.
On a scale of one to two, one being not-so-excited and two being just a little more than not-so-excited, how excited are you to see the Alfred-focused Pennyworth TV series? Let us know down below!
