It’s never nice to report on news like this, but Ben Affleck has had a history of problems with alcohol abuse which were thought to be behind him. However, it seems like Affleck has fallen off the wagon big time and needs help.
TMZ has run a story with photographic evidence that Affleck who played Batman in both Batman V Superman and Justice League, has gone to a live-in rehab clinic for alcoholism. The star was pictured looking disheveled out on a date before more photos surfaced showing Affleck taking a crate of alcohol from a delivery driver. This picture apparently propelled Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner into action, the couple has been separated for a few years now, but are not officially divorced and have 3 children together.
The report states that Garner appeared at the home of Affleck in the Pacific Palisades after seeing the photograph of the alcohol delivery. Apparently Garners intervention was met with resigned acceptance by Affleck who realized he indeed did need help. Garner and Affleck were then seen leaving his home to make their way to a rehab clinic in LA where it is expected Affleck will have an extended stay.
Alcoholism is a disease, and it affects all kinds of people from rich to poor, famous too. We here at LRM hope that Affleck can get the help to finally conquer this affliction once and for all.
With regards to how this affects things in the movie world, we just don’t know. We have all seen the many, many rumors over the last couple of years that Affleck would not be donning the Batcowl in Matt Reeves upcoming movie The Batman. Since then things have been very cloudy, to say the least, with the latest report indicating that Affleck will remain a producer on Reeves movie.

Whether Affleck’s latest laps will affect his ability to play Batman again, or whether there were always plans to swap out for another actor is still unclear. Overall I would imagine that right now Affleck’s concentration should be focused solely on his immediate health. The pictures which we will not post here, show Affleck looking anything but in tip-top shape as the events of yesterday unfolded.
Let’s hope things work out well for the Hollywood star, so we can get back to talking about his professional work instead of his personal life.
