Batwoman Adds Dougray Scott As Jacob Kane

There have been some mixed opinions regarding The CW’s upcoming addition to the Arrowverse, Batwoman.  Some are extremely for it while others are passing it off.  I am interested to see their take on the character based on Batwoman’s introduction during this year’s cross-over event.

Deadline recently released some new casting information.  Dougary Scott, best known for being in Mission: Impossible II and Departure, has been cast as Kate Kane’s father, Jacob Kane.  They went on to provide a character summary:

“Scott will play Jacob Kane, a former military colonel with a chip on his shoulder for Batman, Jacob Kane now commands Gotham’s private security firm The Crows, and has made it his mission to protect his city better than the Dark Knight ever could. But it’s only a matter of time before his unwavering disdain for vigilantes puts him at odds with Gotham’s new caped crusader…who also happens to be his own daughter.”

Hmm, seems very Detective Lance/Laurel Lance from earlier seasons of Arrow.  It could have potential.  In case you are unfamiliar with the upcoming CW show:

“Written by Caroline Dries, Batwoman marks the first gay lead character of a live-action superhero series. Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.”

As a final note, that the original director for the pilot, David Nutter, has had to back out and will be replaced by Marcos Siega (The Following, The Vampire Diaries).
