The CW looks to continue their stock of superhero shows with the inclusion of Batwoman.  As we already know, Batwoman has said to be appearing in the CW crossover event later this year.  It looks as if they are expecting the appearance to go well as they are now planning to give her a show of her own!

It is well known that The CW represents the LGBT community with many of their characters, and Batwoman will be no different, but also looks to be the first of its kind by having a lesbian lead character. Deadline not only provided us with a brief description of the current Batwoman, but more details regarding the possible show, which looks to be derived from Caroline Dries and Greg Berlanti:

“In Batwoman, written by Dries based on the DC characters, armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

Now, as far as the way they plan to bring Batwoman into the scene looks similar to how Arrow first introduced Barry Allen / The Flash:

“With Batwoman, the CW is following the strategy it used for The Flash, whose central character was introduced in a two-episode arc on Arrow in December 2013. While originally the network had planned a third Arrow episode later that season to serve as The Flash backdoor pilot, it ultimately opted for a standalone Flash pilot, which launched the series the following fall.”

Casting for the role is about to begin, and what Arrowverse show she will premier on has not yet been stated.

What are your thoughts on the inclusion of Batwoman in The CW Universe?  Is she a welcome addition, or do you think another character would fit in better?  Leave your thoughts in the usual place, and thanks for reading!
