The CW has long since been in the DC business. Hell, even before The CW was The CW, it was churning out shows like Smallville. Its latest superhero series is set to be the electrifying Black Lightning, starring Cress Williams in the lead role of Jefferson Pierce.

For a good while, we’ve known that it would be premiering on the network in January of 2018, but The CW has now announced that it will premiere on Tuesday, January 16 at 9/8c, following a new episode of The Flash.

Interestingly enough, Legends of Tomorrow fans will notice that this means it’ll be taking that timeslot away from the time-traveling team. What does this mean for the future of that series? Well, Legends will premiere the second half of its third season in February, and when it does so, it’ll be on an all-new time and day, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for it.

Below is the synopsis for Black Lightning:

Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.”
