Black Panther To Get A New Suit In Black Panther 2?

New suit in Black Panther 2

Is T’Challa going to be getting a new suit in Black Panther 2? That’s what we are asking today based on some recent comments from Angela Bassett. Basset played the mother of T’Challa in the box office smash hit, Black Panther. It took some time for a sequel to Black Panther to be announced but we all knew it was coming.

The cast of Black Panther are all (more or less) confirmed to be back for Black Panther 2, which we think is due to hit in 2022. Bassett appeared last night on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, talk turned to Black Panther 2. The veteran actress refused to give any details before Fallon chimed in claiming she had told him a spoiler backstage.

Bassett: “Going along, coming along. Amazing. Absolutely.”

Fallon: “You were telling me backstage that they decided to change the costume of Black Panther.”

Bassett: “Jimmy… I was telling you that in confidence! I cannot!”

Jimmy then tries to cover it up by saying he is joking. Gotta be honest and say this feels like something Bassett could have told Fallon backstage. I mean, this is hardly worthy of a kill order for the Marvel snipers is it?

Black Panther’s suit has evolved continually since he first appeared in the MCU. It’s hardly surprising to imagine this costume evolution will not carry on into Black Panther 2. Evolving costumes are echoed by many other MCU characters. Spider-Man, Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man have all had a variety of modifications to their look, some more dramatically different than others.

As for Black Panther, I get the feeling from fans that the first suit from Civil War is more loved than the later models. Maybe I’m wrong, and I have only heard that from a small proportion of the fan base? I can’t say I have a strong opinion either way, I’ve liked all T’Challa’s suits so far. The only Wakanda based suit I have not liked so far was Killmonger’s. The villain’s suit felt too CGI compared to T’Challa’s for me at times.

I didn’t think Black Panther was all that. I liked it Black Panther, I could not understand the Oscar push for the life of me though. Hopefully, we will get a more global story in Black Panther 2, not just Wakanda in a (literal) bubble. Black Panther 2 could be a great place to have a guest Avenger show up, though I have not given thought to whom?

Will T’Challa get a new suit in Black Panther 2? Do you even care, or is this an obvious step for Black Panther 2? Leave us your thoughts in the usual place.
