Black Widow Movie Reportedly Casting Mysterious Villain Character

While do know of other movies that are in the works over at Marvel Studios after Spider-Man: Far From Home, the one that is likely set to hit the soonest is none other than the long-gestating Black Widow film. This is crazy to me, considering this was a movie I was convinced wouldn’t even get going until after Captain Marvel, though it looks like the studio is taking its diversity very seriously, and given how beloved Scarlett Johansson’s character has become over the years, they can do much worse.

The film is currently being rewritten by Ned Benson, and according to a new report from That Hashtag Show, there is a new character the production is looking to cast. The outlet states they are looking at either “Black British or African actor, 30-45, to portray a ‘tough, dangerous and mysterious’ villain.” So what does this new report mean for the film, assuming it’s true?

Well, it’s more of a process of elimination type deal. With them looking for someone with a British accent (at least that’s the implication of the report), it looks like any Russian villains are unlikely. That being said, this character could be a secondary villain working with a primary villain, who could still be Russian, right?

The film seems on track to go in front of cameras in the next few months, so assuming the rewrites are going well, it’s still on track to hit theaters sooner rather than later, which is super cool.
