Black Widow Standalone Movie Has Started Production In Norway

The end may have already come in the form of Avengers: Endgame, but as we know, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is likely going to outlive all of us, and in order to do that, the production train needs to keep on chugging. Of course, Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to hit theaters in July, but there’s also another MCU film that’s moving along quite nicely. I’m talking about the Black Widow standalone flick.

Black Widow is a movie audiences have been waiting for ever since Captain America: The Winter Soldier came along and made her a wonderful, three-dimensional character. Over the past year, the film has made significant strides, and thanks to some recently-posted pictures online, we now know the movie is in production.

Not a lot here to pore over honestly. In the photos, Johansson looks a bit more disheveled with her hair sort of being strewn about. One confusing note for me is one of the tweets saying she looks “young and beautiful.” Call me crazy, but she doesn’t look any younger than usual.

Sure, given the fate of the character in Avengers: Endgame, one can assume this is a flashback (though our own Brandon Jones had a great theory on what a non-flashback Black Widow could be in our Monday episode of LRMornings at the bottom of this piece), but I can’t say it’s super evident here.

Either way, I’m happy to see them actually going through with this one. While it’s great there’s a Captain Marvel movie and all that, I’m far more interested in Black Widow as a character.
