Blade Rewrite Reduces Kit Harrington Black Knight Role | Barside Buzz

The latest Barside Buzz offers some Blade plot details which say we'll get the Ebony Blade, but no Black Knight outside of a post credit scene.

I’m sure you’re aware of many rumors of issues with the script for Blade. However the latest Barside Buzz says that the current Blade rewrite reduces Kit Harrington’s Black Knight role considerably. It’s always been expected that Harrington would show up alongside Mahershala Ali in Blade given the post credit scene of Eternals. However we may now have to temper those expectations if the latest rumors is legit.

The information comes from Jeff Sneider on the latest The Hot Mic podcast. Sneider says he’s heard the script has trimmed down in the latest revision and that the character who suffers from those cuts is Black Knight.

“Someone reached out to say that with ‘Blade,’ things have gotten a little bit better. Things have shaped up, the script is leaner and meaner and they cut out the fat, but the script I heard about was like 87 pages, like there wasn’t enough and they’d shaved it to the bone:”

“What they’d cut out I heard is that Blade’ was gonna tie-in with ‘Eternals’ and Kit Harrington’s Black Knight.”

“Black Knight’s not really involved in the ‘Blade‘ thing anymore. They may be recasting a few parts including maybe the daughter, was there like a 14-year-old girl? They may recast that.”

That seems to indicate Black Knight might be gone completely from Blade. In which case, it begs the question, when are Marvel going to address half the teases they’ve offered across their movies? Look, I want Blade to be a good film and if having Black Knight doesn’t work, then so be it. However Marvel also needs to stop introducing new characters as teases and then doing nothing with them. I mean, is Black Knight with (already big star) Kit Harrington not a more important show for Disney+ than Echo, or She-Hulk to name two obvious candidates?

Eternals didn’t do so well, but the movie teased two very distinct directions in its post-credit scenes. So far there is no sign of either of those scenes going somewhere. Surely Harrington has to think about moving on with other projects? There is the potential Snow series in development, which would act as a sequel to Game of Thrones.

I guess we will see, but right now its hard to keep track of everything Marvel has teased that’s gone nowhere.

The current Blade rewrite reduces Kit Harrington’s Black Knight role considerably according the Barside Buzz. What do you think of the news if it pans out? Leave us your thoughts below.
