Today’s big Barside Buzz is that Marvel has scrapped plans for a Blade solo movie and the character will now debut in the Midnight Sons film. This rumors comes from Jeff Sneider, appearing on this week’s The Hot Mic with host John Rocha. The show goes into some detail on a lot of the big stories we have covered this week, so worth a watch.
However, the big scoop of this episode is as per the title above.
Sneider says,
“Blade is Dead!”
“It’s a rumor, I’m hearing Blade is dead and it’s a Midnight Sons movie. He will not be introduced in a solo movie, he will be introduced in Midnight Sons.”

I guess the question now is, will star Mahershala Ali stick around to do this now? Does this mean the script for Midnight Sons is just in a much better place than the Blade idea? Does it make sense to just go straight into a Midnight Sons film and introduce Blade and his backstory into the MCU.
Would that just put the Blade solo film farther down the line or will Blade only appear in ensemble films? There’s a lot of questions if this rumor is true. Bear in mind this remains a rumor for now, but Sneider has a very good track record.
I doubt Marvel will be looking to confirm this news any time soon. Anything post-Secret Wars is being held pretty close to the chest save the X-Men reboot. Watch this space.
