Before filmmaker Danny Boyle hopped onto Bond 25 along with his writer John Hodge, longtime franchise scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade were on board to write the latest entry. In fact, we had reported previously that the duo had completed a draft for the production. It looks like that claim may have been in error, if we’re to believe this report from the Daily Mail.

According to one of their insiders, Purvis and Wade only wrote a treatment that the studio signed off on before Boyle hopped on board. This means that the only complete draft of a script the studio has is the one from Boyle and Hodge, meaning that if they wanted to actually start production in December, they’d have to use that script.

Now, that seems unlikely, because the outlet went on to say that Purvis and Wade are now back on board with Bond 25, and will develop their existing treatment into a full screenplay. From there, when a new director jumps on board, they will likely work with someone else to help cater the script to that director’s vision.

All this means is that, if this report is to be believed, we are still quite a ways from seeing Bond 25 becoming a reality. Furthermore, it seems less and less likely that they will be hitting that December production date or that 2019 release date.
