Brie Larson praises The Marvels Script in a recent interview with Uproxx. Larson says almost nothing about the plot The Marvels. She can’t, and yet they have to ask, but yeah, we get nothing much. However Larson does talk about how much she loved the script when she first read it and how much she enjoyed working with director Nia DaCosta.
“I can’t say enough about how incredible our director, Nia DaCosta, is and what an honor it was to work with her, what an immense talent she is, how much I just feel like she’s the future. And I could also say that, when I read the script for the first time, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was like, this is bonkers. And it’s the thing that I love about Marvel, is that they continue to reinvent. They continue to do the thing that you just would never think would be possible in these films. And they’re not afraid to go there. So I’m super excited about what we did. I think there are some huge personal achievements of mine that I’m really excited about sharing, but you know, it’s fun to have a bit of a secret. And it’s fun to know that, when this film comes out, people are going to be delighted. And I get to keep that to myself for a little bit longer.”

Bonkers would be a pretty good description for most MCU movies to be fair. However I do hope The Marvels is kinda bonkers and ‘out there’ because I think it’s what Carol Danvers needs to really cement her character. I wasn’t a huge fan of Captain Marvel at all, but I like what I saw of Carol within Avengers: Endgame. I guess my hope I that the majority of the movie will be set out in the cosmos. Out there with lots of space and not much collateral damage is exactly where I want to see Carol operate. I think we can truly get a sense of Carol’s power and role in the wider Galaxy.
Whether that also fits with the inclusion of both Photon (Monica) and Ms. Marvel I’m not sure? I certainly never imagined Kamala Khan going off to fight alien wars at such a young age, but I guess Peter Parker did?
