Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar Has Been Approached By Marvel Studios

You may know Jay Chandrasekhar best from Broken Lizard, most notably Super Troopers and the sequel to that film that just came out this past April. But, not only does Chandrasekhar direct most the Broken Lizard films, he has also directed other films and TV series including multiple episodes of Arrested Development and Community.

Seeing as how the Russo Bros. turned directing Arrested Development and Community into a career directing Captain America and Avengers films, it is not too much of a surprise that Chandrasekhar has now too, been approached by Marvel Studios.

SYFY Wire had an interview with Chandrasekhar, where it was revealed Marvel was at least entertaining the idea of working with him:

“They sent me the Marvel Encyclopedia and they said, what do you guys want to do? So, it’s upstairs. My kid’s going through it. And he’s going to make a list of what he thinks we should do, and I’ll go through it. I’m curious to see what a 13-year-old’s mind comes up with.”

Chandrasekhar was then asked if he thought it was cool that Marvel is reaching out to filmmakers to see what they are interested in:

“Yeah. Which is massive. And there are certain ones that are owned by Fox, so you can’t do those. But there are plenty of people there — I mean, look at Deadpool. You’re like, well I didn’t know you could do that. Great. Let’s do something like that. Right?”

Chandrasekhar also mentioned he just received the packet a few days ago and has only had a general meeting with the studio.

Chandrasekhar seems like a good fit for the MCU, closest to the mold of a Taika Waititi. Do you agree? Or would you rather have the man behind Super Troopers 2 stick to lower-budget comedies? Let us know in the comment section below!
