Bryan Cranston is back in the thriller saddle again. The actor, who really hit a whole new level of fame with the AMC thriller series Breaking Bad, has just signed on to star in and executive produce the legal thriller Your Honor, for Showtime, TheWrap reports from the TV Critics Association press tour.
Per Showtime themselves, Cranston will be playing “a respected judge whose son is involved in a hit-and-run that leads to a high-stakes game of lies, deceit and impossible choices.”
“[Showrunner Peter Moffat], [executive producers Michelle and Robert King] have crafted an original thriller with gut-wrenching suspense, raw emotion and moral complexity,” Showtime programming president Gary Levine said. “And we are simply ecstatic that Bryan Cranston, one of the planet’s finest actors, shares our enthusiasm and has agreed to play the lead. I can’t wait to shoot Your Honor and show it to the world!”

Of course, Cranston is most famous for his portrayal of Walter White, the protagonist and burgeoning drug lord of Breaking Bad, a show that some consider at least partially responsible for the current Golden Age of television. While Cranston has kept himself busy in the years since the show went off the air, he hasn’t really struck as much of a chord since. This does seem like the kind of role that could give him similar acclaim.
