Captain America 4 Writer Talks Future Possibilities For Bucky Barnes

Bucky's possible future in Captain America 4

Captain America 4 is said to be in the works, with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier scribe Malcolm Spellman writing the script. As with all Marvel Studios projects, Spellman is still making the rounds to talk about the recent Disney+ show. With the rumored Captain America 4 possibly next on his slate, many questions have shifted from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to his future project.

Having recently talked about Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, in Captain America 4, Spellman has now revealed his thoughts on the future of Bucky Barnes aka the The Winter Soldier. Talking to The Playlist, Spellman said:

If I tell you, then you’re going to ask me what that would be. I think Bucky is free, in a way. Even coming out of Wakanda, he still wasn’t totally free. He was freed programming, but I believe Bucky is free now in a way. Look at the way he smiled at the end; he got a family, he’s invited to the cook-out, as we say in the community. He is free in a way that I think we haven’t seen, and that leads to a lot of possibilities for him.

I really hope Captain America 4 has about as much Sam Wilson to Bucky Barnes ration as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I don’t want to take away from the new Captain America, but their friendship established on Disney+ would be fun to see continued in the new film.
