Following the premiere we have some mixed Captain America: Brave New World early reactions and the post-credit scene leaks online. Now of course we won’t be sharing that post-credit leak, or linking to it in anyway. However, I will talk about it in a small spoiler marked section below. I will also say, even watching it won’t spoil the movie in anyway whatsoever.

First though, lets look at some of the social media early reactions. Now, we often share these for the big franchise movies. Regular readers will therefore be aware that early reactions don’t always match up to the actual reviews we get once embargo lifts. Normally we find early reactions overly positive, just because of the folks studio invite to these premieres. Reactions to this movie are mixed, which either means it’s terrible, or the early reactions are more reflective of the actual film this time around.

This is just a handful of selections, hundreds more can be found on social media.

Washington Post reporter Herb Scribner seemed happy.

I only saw 30 minutes of #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld so here are some thoughts:

Absolute blast. All-in on the story. It just checked so many boxes for me.

Felt like an MCU movie where other projects actually matter again. Lots of cohesion.

It didn’t quite work for film critic Cris Parker,

#CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld is an enjoyable watch with decent action sequences & some standout moments. However, it didn't quite hit the emotional or narrative highs I was hoping for. This is a trend that seems to follow as you’ll see. Some folks really liked it, some were lukewarm, but rarely anything particularly negative, so far.

MCU_Direct gave it a full review,

Anthony Mackie fills Chris Evans’ shoes seamlessly as Captain America. No one is more deserving to hold the shield than Sam Wilson.

Harrison Ford takes Thunderbolt Ross up a level and, yes, Red Hulk SMASHES — Angry Hulks are so back!

Unfortunately, between the script, structure, and half-baked side characters, #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld struggles to soar as high as I’d hoped.

‘In many ways it plays like a sequel to 2008’s #TheIncredibleHulk, but from the perspective of Thaddeus Ross. I liked Harrison Ford’s version of the character – this is a “Thunderbolt” Ross at the top of his game, yet slowly unraveling as his complicated past – with Cap, with the Avengers, with Hulk – catches up to him. Maybe rewatch that film before this one.’

‘It’s great to see Cap back in action. I can watch him sling that shield all day. This definitely feels like the beginning of the next chapter for #CaptainAmerica, with the film laying groundwork for what’s to come in the MCU – both later this year and beyond.’

Negative Takes

Now for some of the more negative reactions, which were more of struggle to come across.

My thoughts on #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld are incredibly mixed. The film stumbles with its narrative, hoping the action will pick up the slack. Finally, there is that post-credit scene, so I won’t describe it, however…

MILD SPOILER WARNING

The scene does match the rumor of what the scene was that we have heard for a little while. Namely, there is only one scene and it is inconsequential to the film, or what comes next. It’s literally just a spoken tease for the next Avengers films. 

I’d say you can search for it without fear of spoiling the movie. Unless you thought Sam was going to get killed in this one or something.
