Captain Marvel: Nick Fury Will Be A Lowly S.H.I.E.L.D. Desk Jockey In The Film

When Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury was first introduced to audiences at the end of Iron Man, the dude was already the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. He emphasized to Tony that he wasn’t the only one out there with special abilities, hinting at the idea that he’d already seen his fair share of supers in his day. But he wasn’t just talking about the likes of the Hulk or Captain America; he was also talking about the likes of Captain Marvel.

Enter the upcoming film of the same name starring Brie Larson. We’ve known for a while now that Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury would be involved, but we weren’t quite sure in what capacity. While his overall role in the plot is still unknown, we do now know a bit about what he looks like and more.

In a new image from EW, it’s revealed that Jackson will digitally de-aged for this role and that he will be nothing more than a lowly desk jockey over in S.H.I.E.L.D. Additionally, he won’t yet have his signature eyepatch.

The idea of Fury not actually holding an important role in S.H.I.E.L.D. is pretty interesting in my eyes, as while that is a solid 20 years or so ago from now, Jackson himself was still pushing 50 around then. Are we to understand that Fury rose to director in less than 10 years (Fury confronted Tony in 2008) and that he was just pushing paper at around age 50? Perhaps he was more of a field agent before that, and only recently switched over to a desk job?

Okay, clearly, I’m reading too much into this, but that’s what we do here. What do you think of this reveal? Let us know your thoughts down below!
