It appears that Carmen Cabana has joined the upcoming Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. The news was first reported but Ms. Marvel News on Twitter. Major news around this project has been minimal with Iman Vellani being casted as the main character Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel as the biggest news. For a show that has supposedly started filming has been very secretive regarding cast and crew.
There is a ton of pressure to deliver a great Ms. Marvel show. This would be the first Muslim superhero show developed by Marvel which has received a ton of praise. It seems now with this announcement, if true, we will start to see more surrounding this show. While the show is still in early development this news if true would be a great sign for the Marvel project.

According to IMDB she is scheduled to be the Director of Photography for episodes two and three. While this does not seem like big news for the casual viewer, it is great news for the tone of the show. What is unique about the Ms. Marvel show is it will be the first Disney+ show to introduce a new character. Right now the only other Marvel Disney+ show to introduce a new character will be Moon Knight. Both of these character have a minority background so to have diversity behind the camera will help these shows develop.
Carmen Cabana is a cinematographer of Afro-Hispanic descent raised in Colombia and Venezuela. Her most famous work includes High Fidelity and Narcos along with a healthy catalog of high profile projects. Her film work includes 25 independent features including Blumhouse/Amazon’s: Nocturne starring Sydney Sweeney. It will be interesting to see who else is brought in to develop this show.
