Good news, TV fans, it looks like CBS has plans to renew shows CODE BLACK, LIFE IN PIECES, SUPERGIRL, LIMITLESS, and another unnamed series, CBS CEO Leslie Moonves revealed.
“We have five new shows on the air. Of the five, I believe all five of them will be renewed. And we own four of them.â€
This likely doesn’t come as a huge surprise to those who have had their eye on SUPERGIRL. After all, the series has been building to some pretty interesting stuff lately, and with a FLASH crossover on the way, there’s no way CBS would be foolish enough to pull that one from their slate. In addition, SUPERGIRL is definitely one of those show that’s been performing consistently high in the ratings department, with each episode bringing in over 6 million viewers.
LIMITLESS has had similar success, though after the first few episodes, the ratings did drop off a bit, but not nearly enough to warrant cancellation.
The most important thing to take away from all this is CBS’ strategy to own as much of their content as possible. We live in a new age, and TV itself can only go so far. CBS is one of the few networks to have their own streaming service, so in owning most of their programs, they add value to the streaming service they provide.
