Another SNL member may join the next “Ghostbusters†film.
First reported on Film Divider, details had emerged that Paul Feig is looking at Saturday Night Live’s Cecily Strong for a non-Ghostbuster role in the film. If she signs, then she will join two current SNL members Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and alumnus Kristen Wiig.
Melissa McCarthy is the only non-SNL cast member in the film, but she had hosted the shows on three different occasions.
Her character is described as “one of the biggest non-Ghostbuster parts aside from the villain.†She will play a figure who supports the heroines’ activities privately, but denounces them publicly to avoid a widespread panic.
According to the site, the role was specifically written for Strong by screenwriter Katie Dippold.
“Ghostbusters†is scheduled to be in theaters on July 22, 2016.
