Charlie Cox Debunks The Daredevil In Spider-Man 3 Rumor, Suprising No One

Charlie Cox debunks that obviously BS Daredevil in Spider-Man 3 rumor. It’s hardly surprising given where that rumor came from, but is it also a bit of a shame? Read on for more details.

I really enjoyed all three seasons of Daredevil on Netflix. However, it won’t be until 2021 that Marvel can even legally use the character again elsewhere. So fans have been eager to know if Marvel intends to bring back Charlie Cox as Daredevil in some other format? For now, Daredevil’s future is still up in the air, and if I was to guess, it doesn’t appear high priority for Marvel. Frankly, that’s a damn shame, because Daredevil’s world was an excellent addition to the MCU in my opinion. The other Netflix shows, well, not so much, for me anyway.

With fans eager to hear more about Daredevil, up stepped some superheroes of movie journalism. WGTC or as I like to call them, WMTU, had obviously decided that a Daredevil in Spider-Man 3 rumor would generate some traffic. However, now Charlie Cox has debunked this rumor. The Daredevil actor recently spoke with ComicBook.com and was asked about Daredevil.

“I hadn’t heard those rumors, but it’s certainly not with my Daredevil. I’m not involved in it, if that’s true, it’s not with me. It’s with another actor.”

Cox then goes on to say he would love to still get to play Daredevil if he had the chance.

“Look, I had a great time. I’m so grateful I got to play that character as long as I did. Of course, I’d love to keep going. I’d love to be involved with it. As a fan of the Marvel movies, I’ve loved the little stuff where they pop up here and there but because we were on Netflix, we weren’t able to do as much for legal reasons, I don’t know why. But I love the idea of Jessica and Matt showing up in the background or Matt as a lawyer advising Peter Parker. That’d be really, really cool.”

Daredevil in Spider-Man 3 rumor

Pretty definitive, unless Marvel is recasting Daredevil, which would be a monumentally bad decision. However, as said up top, this is hardly surprising. Anyone who takes WGTC rumors as fact really needs to start counting up the hit rate to failure ratio. Would Daredevil in Spider-Man 3 be cool? Damn right it would, and I definitely would love to see more of Cox’s Daredevil in the MCU. Spider-Man is actually one of the perfect heroes to team with Daredevil. Both Spidey and Daredevil tend to deal with more local threats, with both making enemies of the Kingpin. Daredevil, however, is owned by Disney, and Spider-Man is owned by Sony, kinda. I think Sony are happy to see Spidey teamed with established MCU players, not the likes of Daredevil.

I think for the next Spider-Man film, it might be better to have him on his own. We don’t need an MCU star to bang on the poster to prove to fans this is the MCU. We’ve been there, we’ve done that. While I love Homecoming and Far From Home, I think it’s time for Spider-Man to stand on his own two feet. As for Daredevil, well, for me Marvel Studios should be looking at a Season 4 on Hulu. Daredevil was too good a show to let fall into obscurity while Cox is still young enough to play Matt Murdock.

What do you think of Cox’s comments, did you ever buy the Daredevil in Spider-Man 3 rumor? Leave your thoughts below in the usual spot.
