Chasing Time | Jeff Orlowski-Yang and Sarah Keo on Last Journey for Photographer James Balog – Hot Docs Festival 2024

Chasing Time

All great journeys come to an end.

For environmental photographer James Balog, his 15-year Extreme Ice Survey expedition showcased the worldwide phenomenon of melting ice glaciers ended with noticeable results and accomplishments.

His long-time mentee, Jeff Orlowski-Yang, and first-time director Sarah Keo, embarked on an emotional journey, following Balog on the last chapter of the project, removing the cameras to shut down this valuable endeavor.

Here is the official synopsis of the short documentary:

A meditative exploration of time and mortality, Chasing Time follows photographer James Balog and his time as they bring the 15-year Extreme Ice Survey project to a close. A beautiful tribute to the power of images and the importance of mentorship, the Emmy-winning team behind Chasing Ice returns to spotlight the power of an intergenerational effort to seed hope and inspire action toward a sustainable future.
