Inspiring a new HGTV series, they assure struggling homeowners, especially millennials, of the possibilities of owning their own homes without accepting crippling debt, and for this reason among others, they encourage restoring homes with history over buying brand-new constructions. 

Elizabeth and Ethan Finkelstein are the personalities behind the popular Who’s Afraid of a Cheap Old House? phenomenon. They continually share posts on their Instagram account Cheap Old Houses of some unbelievable affordable homes under 150K. Last year they  released their book, Cheap Old Houses: An Unconventional Guide to Loving and Restoring a Forgotten Home. Full of guidance and inspirations to create your affordable home.

With the current season coming up I had the opportunity to connect with Elizabeth and Ethan Finkelstein via Zoom to talk about their creative escapades in Who’s Afraid of a Cheap Old House? They discussed a brief backstory about one of the episodes and its full circle moment. They both share what is the one thing they are looking for when they first see a home and the quality materials the older homes have that newer homes lack and more!
