A few years back, filmmakers Veronika Franz and Serverin Fiala put out a disturbing and intriguing little gem called Goodnight Mommy. Personally, I’m not sure I would classify it as horror, but it was mostly unsettling in its atmosphere and nature — something a lot of prestige horror movies do these days as well. Anyway, if their previous effort interested you, then we have a new flick to send your way.

NEON has just dropped the trailer for The Lodge, Franz and Fiala’s next directorial effort starring Alicia Silverstone, Jaeden Martell, and Richard Armitage, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with what I’m seeing.

This movie seems to start off with a typical horror trope. A family of sorts heads to the mountains, but the area in which they are staying seems to be a hotbed of mystery…but what does it mean for them? I’m assuming this is going to be a twist on the usual tropes we’ve come to expect from the franchise, but I really don’t know how.
