Chernobyl Trailer Chronicles The Horrifying Real-Life Event

Chernobyl. In a single word, you could conjure up countless horrifying images. A nuclear facility. Radiation. Government cover-ups. It all makes for an intriguing subject matter. The event in 1986 saw a catastrophic nuclear disaster take place at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the town of Pripyat. While the disaster itself was bad enough, the true crime here was how ignorant the citizens of Pripyat were aware of the danger they were in.

As a result, there are people, to this day, who live with radiation-induced cancer. This is an even that’s been documented many times already, but now it’s getting the HBO treatment. This year, audiences will be getting a full miniseries chronicling the true events. Now, HBO has released the trailer for the series, and if disasters like this pique your interest, it looks to be a must-watch.

Below is the official synopsis for Chernobyl:

“On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, Soviet Union suffered a massive explosion that released radioactive material across Belarus, Russia and Ukraine and as far as Scandinavia and western Europe. Chernobyl dramatizes the story of the 1986 accident, one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history, and the sacrifices made to save Europe from the unimaginable disaster. Chernobyl premieres May 6 on HBO.”
