The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a show that has taken on a life of its own over on Netflix. While it’s not something that really struck a chord with me personally, it did clearly work for a lot of other people, and in spite of my gripes, I do think the show does a lot of things right for the medium and can appreciate it nonetheless. That’s why I’m intrigued by this new project.
The creator of that show is working on a brand-new series called The Shelley Society for HBO Max. The streaming service has ordered a pilot for the show and an additional script.

Deadline describes the show as “a mash-up of gothic horror and teen romance featuring young Mary Shelley, which Aguirre-Sacasa co-created with Riverdale writers Tessa Leigh Williams and James DeWille.”
Needless to say, given Aguirre-Sacasa’s track record with other shows like Riverdale and Katy Keene, Aguirre-Sacasa is primed to handle another female-centric gothic series that can help feed the hungry horror fans.
