Chris Evans era as Captain America is nearly over, so it’s time to look to the future career of Mr. Evans. Will he be able to escape Cap’s cowl?
Following final photography on Avengers 4 this fall, Deadline reports that Chris Evans will star in a disaster thriller titled Greenland, from Niell Blomkamp, the director behind District 9, Elysium, and Chappie.
Though the plot to Greenland is fairly secretive, we know it’s the story of a family’s fight for survival in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster. And I bet Chris Evans is the father of that family. Anyone else want to take bets?
Greenland is set for principal photography in the final quarter on 2018.
Anton is one of the studios producing the film, and its CEO Sebastien Raybaud had this to say about the project:
“When we read Greenland, we knew it was exactly the sort of film we wanted to make as we build the Anton brand — smart, character driven genre with action and heart. We are very excited to work alongside our friends at STX with such exceptional talent as Neill Blomkamp, Chris Evans and Basil Iwanyk.”
STXinternational is handling overseas distribution. The company’s president David Kosse, added:
“Greenland is the kind of highly commercial genre fare that sees Neill Blomkamp doing what he does best: delivering a smart, fresh, high concept narrative in a world we can easily recognize. We were immediately attracted to this talent-driven, wide release, theatrical title that is so distinctive of the STX brand. Working alongside Neill, Thunder Road, Riverstone and Anton to bring this to the marketplace is a tremendous opportunity.”
