Chris Evans Still Unsure If An MCU Return Is Right

Chris Evans is still unsure if an MCU return is the right call to make

Chris Evans is still unsure if an MCU return is the right call to make. Steve Rogers hung up his shield after Endgame and the character lived his entire life before coming back as an old man. Whilst we think Steve is still alive, he is long past retirement age. However, this is the MCU, and as such, there are a number of ways for Cap to return. Alternate Steve’s from other Multiverses is an easy answer. However, we could also see Cap out of his own time again before he settled down with Peggy.

Question is, should Marvel do it, and if they’re going to do it, where should they do it? Speaking at C2E2 in Chicago, Evans admits there are plenty more stories t tell with Steve Rogers. However he’s simply not sure if that is the right call to make? Transcript via ComicBook.

“It’s tough, because look, I love that role deeply,” Evans shared. “He means so much to me, and I really do. I think there’s more Steve Rogers stories tell, sure. But at the same time, I’m very, very precious with it. I’d become, you know, it’s like this little shiny thing that I have that I love so much, and I just don’t want to mess up in any way, and I was a part of something that was so special for the special period of time and in a way, it really landed so well. He continued, “As much as I’m connected to that role and love telling those stories and working with those people. It doesn’t quite feel right right now.”

I can only speak for my own personal opinion. Evans Cap was the best representation of the character across any medium ever. I honestly think Cap was a bore in the comics, but Evans version was brilliant. Like Evans, I would not like to see that exit treated too lightly. I don’t want this to be a case of Disney breaking the emergency glass around that Chris Evans check book just because the MCU is struggling.

However one day, I absolutely would love to see an Old Man Cap movie, or cameo appearance. Though, for that we need Evans to age out for another 5-10 years. I’d love to see a variant of RDJ return in Secret Wars, but not Evans Cap. Save Cap for farther down the line would be my call. However, no one cares what I think at Disney, so who knows?

Chris Evans is still unsure if an MCU return is the right call to make. What do you think, should Cap return ASAP? Do you think he should be held back a little longer, or never come back at all? Leave your opinions below as always.
