After Avengers: Endgame saw Thor leaving Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy, fans started to wonder whether the Asgardian would show up along with the rest of the team in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 directed once again by James Gunn. One would assume that Gunn was fully aware of how the Avengers: Endgame director’s the Russo Brothers had placed Thor at the end of the movie whilst he was writing the script for the Guardians 3, but who knows?
According to Thor actor Chris Hemsworth, he’d love to lay Thor again in the next Guardians movie, but he didn’t suggest it was a definite when he spoke with Cinema Blend recently.
“I’d play that character again. I love it so much – especially if there’s something unique to do again with it. I felt like the last three films were very, very different each time. It really felt like a totally different character. And I don’t even know when or if they’re shooting [Guardians of the Galaxy 3]. After the Avengers press tour I kind of went and buried my head in the sand.”
The outlet then followed this up by suggesting ‘Asgardians of the Galaxy’ is a perfect set up for a new take on Thor.
“I’ll work with any of those guys. Asgardians Of The Galaxy. That’s actually great. You might’ve just got me my next job. Thank you, man.”
Of course, it was not the outlet who came up with the title of Asgardians of the Galaxy as it was actually mentioned by Thor in Endgame, and maybe Hemsworth just forgot the line? I cannot see them actually changing the title, but I would really love to see Thor become a fully fledged member of the team going forward, even if it’s just for one movie. We don’t quite know when the third Guardians movie will shoot or release, but we’d expect Gunn will move onto this as soon as he is finished with The Suicide Squad for DC.
