Imagine a world where, at any moment, you could be drafted into a war. And not the war for some ongoing conflict you’ve been following, but a war that takes place in the future. That’s exactly what we’re dealing with in the previously-titled sci-fi film Ghost Draft, which stars and is executive produced by Chris Pratt and directed by The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay.
It’s an intriguing premise, and mainstream audiences are undeniably drawn to Chris Pratt as an actor, but it sounds like the studio wasn’t too keen on the title itself, as it now has a new one in the form of…well, take a look at the post from Chris Pratt as he brainstorms the new title.
“This is my first time executive producing on a movie! And I can finally post about it!!! The title “Ghostdraft,” turned out to be problematic for various reasons so we started looking at other options… We went through:
World War A
Saving private Ryaalien
WWZ2 but with As not Zs
HERO movie brought to you by Verizon
Miller genuine Draft
The Tomorrow War
THE TOMORROW WAR
THE TOMORROW WAR!!!! And that’s when it hit me…. We’re calling it
The Tomorrow War it is, and I have to say, it’s a huge step up (in my opinion) from Ghost Draft. I can imagine one big sticking point being that the original title sounded more horror and less sci-fi than the studio wanted.
Below is the synopsis released by Men’s Journal a couple of months ago:
“The film is set in the future where humanity is fighting a war and losing to an alien invasion, so to fight back, scientists develop a way to draft soldiers from the past to fight the war.”
