For months, Christopher Nolan has been talking up his personal supervision of his films’ transition to the medium of 4K. The filmmaker is known as one of the biggest supporters of the film medium, and while there are plenty of arguments against it, it does make them all incredibly conducive to transferring to 4K.

In this trailer, we get to see highlights from films The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, Dunkirk, The Prestige, and Interstellar. While these aren’t all of Nolan’s films, these are definitely the big ones that film fans will be salivating for, as they mark some of his higher achievements as a filmmaker.
If you’re still living in the world of 1080p like most people, here is the 4K pitch:
“4K Ultra HD includes a range of features such as High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wider Color Spectrum. These performance advances allow viewers to more accurately experience the filmmaker’s original vision, offering consumers brighter, deeper, more lifelike colors for a home entertainment viewing experience like never before.”
While I wouldn’t argue that all films need to be experienced in 4K, I think one or two of Nolan’s films (like Interstellar and Inception) truly would benefit from this higher quality format — assuming that you have a big enough TV to enjoy it on.
