Paramount Pictures announced at CinemaCon that Academy Award winner Denzel Washington will star and director FENCES, a drama based on the acclaimed August Wilson play.
FENCES tells the story of a once-promising baseball player who now works as a garbage collector in Pittsburgh. The man has very complicated relationships with his wife, son and friends.
Washinton will be playing the main role of Troy. It also stars Viola Davis (“THE HELPâ€), Stephen Henderson (“LINCOLNâ€), Russell Hornsby (“GRIMMâ€), Mykelti Williamson (“FORREST GUMPâ€), Jovan Adepo (“THE LEFTOVERSâ€) and Saniyya Sydney.
This film will be Washington’s third movie at the end after THE GREAT DEBATORS and ANTWONE FISHER.
The principal photography will commence this month in Pittsburgh.
During the Paramount Pictures presentation, it showed a few photo slides of Washington and Davis. One of these photos included Washington in a batting stance with a baseball bat.
