When Kevin Smith moves, he moves. When the dude commits to a project, it doesn’t seem to take long before things tart to materialize. While Clerks III hit a multi-year hiccup when Jeff Anderson refused to act in it, Smith’s new take on the film seems to have convinced Anderson to participate, and while a script may not be done just yet, and Smith may still be touring Jay and Silent Bob Reboot around the country, it doesn’t mean some headway can’t be made.
This seems to be the case for Clerks III. According to a reader of /Film who was in attendance at one of the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot roadshow events, Smith said he’d convinced Gerard Way to act as composer for the threequel film.

Gerard Way is known for his work in the rock band My Chemical Romance, but he also worked with Smith in the past on a track for Tusk. Additionally, Way is known for writing the comic book series The Umbrella Academy.
James L. Venable did the soundtrack for Clerks II and the “soundtrack” for Clerks was made up of actual songs.
From what Smith has told us, Clerks III will follow Randal making a movie about working as a store clerk following a heart attack that almost kills him. Having realized he wasted his life away, he decides to do something worthwhile…like making a movie.
