IFC Entertainment Group is in full celebration with Clown in a Cornfield opening weekend. The clown stamped their biggest opening weekend. The film was directed by Eli Craig who is known for the dark comedy Tucker and Dale vs Evil. Kevin Durand, Aaron Abrams and Katie Douglas were among the cast of the clown scare.
The Synopsis
Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burden, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.

Before the release of the film I was connected via Zoom with Kevin Durand, Katie Douglas and director Eli Craig to discuss the making of Clown in a Cornfield. Craig and Douglas discussed what makes clowns terrifying for some of us. Plus the discussion of the fun behind wearing a clown mask, the difficulty of working at an actual cornfield. Durand shared why he wanted to be a part of this film and being lucky to not grow up with today’s technology.
