According to Deadline Maria Hill is back? Cobie Smulders in Secret Invasion, which I’m betting will come as little surprise to fans. We always knew that Samuel L. Jackson would be starring as Nick Fury in the show and where there’s Fury there’s usually Hill.

Alongside Smulders and Jackson, Secret Invasion will star Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Christopher McDonald and Killian Scott. Whilst plot details are being kept under wraps, it’s hard not to have a fair idea where this is going. After all this show is surely at least based on the Marvel comic of the same name. That comic featured Skrulls taking over key positions across the Globe in their ‘Secret Invasion’ of Earth.

It is rumored that Kingsley Ben-Adir will be playing a Skrull and the chief antagonist of the show. Other roles appear a bit less certain, with many just rumored as spies for either side. Given the way Skrulls were introduced in the MCU it’s unlikely the plot of Secret Invasion will completely match the comics. For a start there are already good Skrulls aiding Fury and Earth in general having made it their adopted home.

Who will be the real them though, and who might really be Skrulls? I’m sure the paranoia will be an effective way to add drama to the story. Maybe not quite The Thing or Invasion of the Body Snatchers levels of paranoia, but let’s just say the PG-13 version. Still, it’s good to have conformation that Hill is back alongside her boss Fury once again. It would have been a little weird if Fury wasn’t in contact with Hill during show this size. Of course whether she really is playing Hill, or playing a Skrull, that’s playing Hill who knows?
