Constantine: City Of Demons Director Comments On Possible Return Of Live-Action Constantine Show | NYCC 2018

John Constantine’s popularity seems to be on the rise of late, or at least DC and Warner Bros have begun to invest more time and money in my favorite DC character, as far as live-action and animated TV appearances.

Yes, the character’s NBC show, the first version of Constantine to star the man who still portrays and voices him, Matt Ryan, was canceled years ago, but since then the character has been re-purposed into Greg Berlanti’s “Arrow-Verse,” appearing on Arrow and becoming a regular on Legends of Tomorrow this season. Meanwhile, the character as voiced by Ryan has appeared in Justice League Dark for DC Animation and just had a new animated film drop this week on home video, Constantine: City of Demons.

So who is driving this Constantine revival and how much more John could we get? At NYCC last week, LRM’s own Jace Milam of The Comic Source Podcast attended a round-table with Constantine: City Of Demons producer Butch Lukic, and Lukic addressed just that:

“I think it’s DC and Warner Brothers together. They realized well, they actually do have a character regardless of that TV show or not going another season, obviously it has a lot of fans. So, for them to just leave it alone there wouldn’t have worked. So I think they weren’t going to do a second season, this was their other option, at least keep it going somehow as a standalone if we can do successfully animation, then it’s a win situation for them and us either way. I’m hoping they do live action season again. That would be great. I hope they do both. If this does well, they might think about it again so we’ll see.”

Hmmm… I would kill to have back a solo Constantine show starring Matt Ryan, even among the other CW Shows. Perhaps if fans continue to show interest in the Master of the Dark Arts, we’ll get even more of him down the line!

Would you like to see more Constantine in the future? Do you want them to do a second season or soft reboot of his old live-action show? Let us know in the comment section below!
