Creed II Trailer: Now THIS Is How You Make A Sequel!

“If we don’t do what we love, then we wouldn’t exist.”

Powerful first words to bring us into this new entry in the Rocky saga, Creed II. The comment is made over footage of the titular Adonis Creed (played by Michael B. Jordan) beating his body to hell to be in tip-top shape for his fight, and boy is he in for one hell of a fight?

The trailer starts things off right away, showing Adonis’ drive to do what he loves, but the overall message here seems to be that there are more important things in life that need to be taken into account: like family or your own life. When he is challenged to a fight to Viktor Drago, Ivan Drago’s son — you know the son of the guy who killed his father — he doesn’t feel he has any choice but to accept.

Perhaps the most chilling quote comes from Adonis’ stepmom: “If you want to fight this man it’s your business, but don’t pretend this is about your father.”

I’m so pumped! Get it, Creed!

Below is the official synopsis for Creed II:

“Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.”

Creed II‘s stellar cast includes Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Russell Hornsby, Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu, Andre Ward, Phylicia Rashad, and finally, Dolph Lundgren, reprising his role as Ivan Drago.

So what do you think of this first trailer? Can it possibly live up to the first film or even the legacy of the painfully silly Rocky IV? Let us know down below!
