The Marvel Universe is continuing to flourish. Some characters have had their ups and downs with the company, but Sony is continuing to extend their Marvel character base. I know some do not care for it, but I actually enjoy Venom. Sony is rolling forward to bring more characters to the big screen, especially female leads. Olivia Wilde has been transitioning from acting to more directing roles. Last year fans learned that she would developing and directing a Marvel character film for Sony. Next came the news that Wilde would in fact be directing a Spider-Woman film. With the news came a flurry of rumors including a hopeful push for Daisy Ridley (Star Wars) to play the role of Spider-Woman.
One of the best parts of leading up to a movie is the speculation, right? Especially regarding casting. Fans are hopeful that Daisy Ridley will be the addition to the Spider-verse. What does she think of the role and the rumors? Sariah Wilson speaks with Ridley and took to Twitter:
What so many of you have been waiting for: I asked Daisy Ridley I’d she’d heard the Spider-Woman rumors. She said no and asked what they were. I explained it to her and she said, “OMG, I would love to play Spider-Woman. But is it more of like an extended Spiderverse thing?”

While Ridley is not completely in the know about it, she appears to be more than willing to play the part. Excitement appears to be an understatement for Ridley’s desire, but who exactly could she play? Female characters such as Jessica Drew, Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy have taken the alter ego. Or, could it be a new character seeing as Wilde is developing the film as well.
Many will remember the appearance of Gwen Stacy (Spider-Gwen) playing the part in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Ridley did say that she enjoyed the film and also states that she currently watches WandaVision.

With Daisy Ridley eager for the part, and her enjoyment of other Marvel adaptions, I think she makes a good choice for Spider-Woman. What do you think? Should they go with Ridley, or do you think there is a better choice? What do you want to see in a Spider-Woman film? Leave your thoughts in the usual spot, and thanks for reading!
