The great wide open seas prove to be challenging for any film crew.

Not only the unpredictable weather and waves, the small cramped spaces of filming on boats, or the isolation of islands can be challenging for any film crew. In the end, Dangerous Waters is a thrilling film about one woman against a criminal gang out in the open waters.

The film stars Odeya Rush, Eric Dane, Saffron Burrows, and Ray Liotta.

Here is the full synopsis:

A sailing adventure spirals out of control in this tightly wound-survival thriller. 19-year-old Rose (Odeya Rush) lives a tough, small-town life in Florida with her single mother Alma (Saffron Burrows). Their luck seems to take a turn when Alma’s new businessman boyfriend, Derek (Erica Dane), whicks them away on a sailing adventure to Bermuda. While at sea, Derek’s “business” is revealed to be less than legitimate when their boat is attacked by savage villains, set on fire, and Alma is viciously killed. Distraught and persecuted by Derek and The Captain (Ray Liotta), Rose unearths a primal instinct of survival and a terrifying need for vengeance. She will not yield until those responsible for her mother’s murder are dead.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with director John Barr on the challenges of filming on cramped ships and in the open waters. Also, we talked about the young actress Odeya Rush and the passing of Ray Liotta affecting the production of this film.

John Barr made his feature film directorial debut with Blood and Money in 2020. He has been a cinematographer on numerous projects included American Bully, Can’t Take It Back, and Once Upon a Time in Queens.
