News broke yesterday that Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again will be the final season of the show. Daredevil seemed like the way ahead for Marvel in the TV realm, especially with various Defenders returning in Season 3. However, now we know Season 3 is the end and showrunner Dario Scardapane will also be moving on.
As per THR,
‘The forthcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again will be its last one, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. The decision comes about two months after the Marvel Studios show’s third season wrapped filming.’
‘The move also comes as Marvel has quietly parted ways with showrunner Dario Scardapane, whose contract was up and was not renewed. The parting of ways is eyebrow-raising as it means that Scardapane is exiting the show in the middle of post-production. It is unclear who will see the show through completion. One source said post-production is the final stages.’

The show is not cancelled as such as the original plan was always three Seasons, but it’s probably over. I find this an odd choice because I don’t see it as a budget heavy style of show. Surely, they could have added a new subtitle and did another 3 season arc in a year or two? Daredevil doesn’t need to be high budget for me, yet you get the feeling this is a money led decision.
I guess there’s just not enough people watching these Marvel shows in Disney+ at current?
Where does this leave the characters, who knows? There’s no reason Marvel can’t have a Daredevil film with the same cast, but I can’t see it happening. I could however see Cox and D’Onofrio reprise their roles in other movies down the line. I guess we wait and see whether there will be a future, or this is the end of the MCU Daredevil as we know it?
